Neeley Professor Garry Bruton Named to Endowed Professorship in International Business, Honoring Decades of Global Leadership
This fall, the TCU Neeley School of Business recognized Garry Bruton as the Charles F. and Alann P. Bedford Professor in International Business.
Bruton is a professor of management and leadership, and he is considered one of the leading experts in the field of entrepreneurship and firm strategy studies. He has been a faculty member at TCU since 1998.
The professorship was established in 1994 by the estate of Dr. Alann P. Bedford.
Bruton’s research focuses on entrepreneurship, strategy and international business, and has examined poverty and inequality in emerging economies.
He has published or is in the process of publishing more than 150 academic articles in leading journals and generated approximately 35,000 citations, representing the most at TCU. He is the co-author of four textbooks and served as editor and associate editor for prestigious journals.
The Fulbright Foundation honored Bruton with the first Hall Chair in Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets in 2005 when he represented TCU as a Fulbright Scholar in Poland. He received the honor a second time in 2018 representing the university in Austria this time.
Bruton is an advocate for students gaining global opportunities, leading hundreds of students to explore study abroad from China to South Africa.
He received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University, an MBA from the George Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.
